Tells everyone a totally different story of how he got the scars. as if he needs to be MORE terrifying... I really enjoyed "Begins" and was anxiously awaiting this sequel. I just wasn"t expecting the movie to take it self so far from a comic book based story.
The movie should leave you thoroughly pleased and the performance by Heath Ledger was incredible. If someone else, male or female, has ever played a part to the perfection that Ledger portrayed The Joker, it is not readily coming to mind.
If there is any thing that concerns me about this wonderful film, it is not something that would cause me to score it badly, but rather I would say that the promotion of the film itself is misleading.
Domino"s pizza is running commercials that suggest, to me anyway, that the Joker character in this movie is as comical as Jack Nicolson played him and that is just not the case. This movie, aside from the sci-fi qualities is more in line with dramas like other mob movies, etc. It has very little to offer audiences under the age of say the age of 15 or 16 years of age. While I don"t think it should have been rated R by todays standard, I think that it hasn"t been appropriately qualified by the massive amounts of publicity that it is receiving.
The reasons that I say Heath Ledger"s portrayal of the Joker may be the single best acting part I have ever seen are completely beyond a child of 15 or 16, and if they aren"t, than children are growing up way to fast. There are certainly people in the world for real every bit the maniac that Ledger so wonderfully acts, but do you really want to explain that to a child.
I still give the movie a 10, it was terrific, but please, if you have any reservations about what you want your child to view, preview the movie and then see it again with the kids. This is a movie for the child in us as adults, and with the idea that we can separate fact from fiction. Because of the awesome job of making this movie, some children aren"t ready for this, and if you want to take them because they really want to see it, then preview it first so that you will go prepared.

Never really realized until now that from 0:42 - 0:46 Joker was thinking about a made up story about his father being a drinker and a fiend in order to falsify his reasoning behind the scars. I remember when I went to see this movie in the cinema, in the end almost the whole room standing clapping, it was a magical moment... The greatest question in movie history. why so serious.
